Welcome to This Humble Homestead!

I am Christy, wife to a hard working man and mama to 5 sweet kids. We have been homesteading for over 10 years. Living with cows, pigs, ducks, and chickens is just a regular way of life for us. We work hard to grow our food—especially meat—and try not to eat outside of what we grow or what we can buy from local farmers.

Homeschooling our kids doesn’t stop at the books. We raise our kids to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, as they develop skills in animal husbandry, gardening, food preparation, and food preservation. Instead of being immersed in technology, they learn the ins and outs of homesteading and living simply. 

Ultimately, our goal is to please our Heavenly Father in all that we say and do. Glorifying Him is the reason we began our path into homesteading. Through church, music, writing, foster care and adoption, and our way of life, we serve Him with unrestrained joy and faith in Him. Life is a journey of faith and prayer, winding through the hills and valleys while relying on God to provide and guide. While it can seem messy at times, our God is a God of order. His hand is on all that we do, and we will continue to follow His lead.

Philippians 1:6 says “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
