Pond Life

We may have lost a pool in the move, but we’ve gained a pond.  I was quite sad at the thought of not having a pool in Florida, but we haven’t missed it in the least.  (Check back with me in July though, just to be sure.  I may have a different response for you.)  Pond […]

Moving

Well, the time has come for this happy family to move on to a new house.  If you know us, then you know we need space to roam free.  To plant a giant garden.  To get more chickens and rabbits.  Maybe a few goats and other animals.  We made the decision to put our house […]

Earth Week

This was our first year recognizing Earth Day.  I checked out some crafts that we could make.  But it all seemed pretty silly to me.  Because why waste paper and time working on a project when we can be our there cleaning up our environment and learning through experience? Experiential learning is the best way […]

Here Chickie, Chickie!

chickens, backyard hens

This is the week all my dreams have come true!  Well, just one really.  But it’s a good one!  This week we got chickens!  Rhode Island Reds.  I have been wanting hens so badly, and for a couple reasons.  I want the kids to experience life with chickens.  We can take care of these animals, […]

Tree Farm

In Florida, we don’t have Christmas tree farms (that I know of).  You can get some pre-cut trees, but you can’t chop them down yourself.  When I was a kid we only cut them down ourselves.  And it was such a fun tradition.  We’d drive out to a tree farm about 40 minutes away, trudge up […]

Blast Off!

Last week my dad and his lovely wifey came to visit.  We had the best time!  The kids love their Gramps and Oma and couldn’t get enough of them.  We did something fun every day they were here including a trip to the Kennedy Space Center.  Our trip just so happened to fall on a […]

Weaving with Nature

Lately, we’ve been taking a lot of walks.  We find so many beautiful things as we go.  Today we decided to bring some of that beauty home with us and weave it in a loom (that we would also make).  The girls gathered lots of flowers and grasses and leaves and sticks and carried them […]

The Farm

In March Chloe started riding lessons.  She has loved every moment in the saddle and, although this has nothing to do with skill or horses, she looks absolutely precious up there.  She has her lesson and then the other girls get a very short turn on the pony.

Little Rider

Chloe is my active little lady.  She loves to get out and be a part of sports and activities. Last year, we found out that she has joint sublaxation, which means that her joints (mainly hips) pop out randomly.  It’s not painful at her age and she knows how to pop them back in when […]
