{Menu Mondays} Steak Roll Ups

This entre is oh so delicious!  I am going to show you how I made these steak roll ups and tell you how to make them extra yummy!  Because, as this was my first round, I found ways that would make this much better.

In my opinion, a fillet or sirloin would be the best choice for this since they would be very tender.  But, you can get very thinly sliced cuts of beef prepackaged in most grocery stores…or ask the butcher!  They’ll give it to you and might be able to recommend something great.  Prepackaged still does a good job, and if you decide to marinade for a day, it’ll really tenderize the meat.

Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced beef (as previously mentioned 🙂 ).
  • Carrots, julienned and steamed (or sautéed in olive oil with salt and pepper)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • One clove of garlic, sautéed
  • Olive oil

Instructions

After you have cut the carrots, steam them (or sauté in olive oil).  Sprinkle salt and pepper on the carrots.

Chop and sauté the garlic.

Next, prepare the meat.  Lay out the beef and place a pile of carrots on it.  Roll it up!

You might have to use a toothpick to secure it.  However, I just flipped it over so that the open end was on the bottom of the pan.  It held very nicely.

Okay, so here is where it gets extra delicious.  Drizzle a light amount of olive oil on the meat and top with salt, pepper, and garlic.  There are two fantastic ways to cook this.  The first is in a pan on the stove with a little bit of oil.  If you choose this method, heat the oil first and once it is warmed up, put the meat in the pan.

The second is on the grill, which I think would be amazing.  The next time I make this, that is exactly how I will prepare this.

I pared this with green beans, baked potatoes, and biscuits (find the recipe here!).
