Our normal group of girls was temporarily increased by two today. Of course we had to find something fun to do with 5 girls ages 6 and under. What better to do than dye Easter eggs. My three girls are usually very careful and meticulous when they are doing a project. They get in the zone and really get into it. It’s always fun to add new personalities to the mix and today that definitely happened (in a good way). There was extra mess and a little bit of sadness as some teeny tiny three year old fingers tossed eggs around and squished them up a little bit. But it was all fun. 36 eggs (minus about 9 or so (lost to tossing and squishing)) and only about 10 minutes later they had successfully colored Easter eggs and achieved a mess easily sprayed off with a hose. 
We aren’t fancy dyers and just stick with regular dye (using food coloring and vinegar) and sometimes a crayon before hand. Which reminds me, here is the super duper simple dye recipe…don’t buy the kits. They’re just silly. 🙂
Recipe
Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar with 20 drops of food coloring. You can even use the gels. I only had green and blue drops, so I just took a bit of gel and mixed it in the vinegar. Worked like a charm!
