I’ve been wanting to try a recipe for chocolate sauce for some time and after tonight’s dessert, I’m so glad I finally did! I looked online for a good recipe. I found one that turned out nice and thick and super chocolatey–maybe even a little too chocolatey (if that’s possible).
Ingredients
- 1 cup of cocoa powder (you could cut it down to even 1/2 c or 3/4 c because this is a super rich recipe (although quite delicious))
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- a dash of salt
- 2 t vanilla
In a sauce pan, mix together all the ingredients, except for the vanilla. Stir constantly over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from the heat and add in the vanilla. Refrigerate what you don’t devour immediately. We let ours cool through dinner and then enjoyed some amazing chocolate ice cream topped with our unbelievably delicious chocolate sauce. Store bought isn’t even an option for us anymore. Homemade is just way too good.
The ice cream brings me to another subject. Today I found organic ice cream at our local grocery store. If you live near a Publix, grab this super delicious organic ice cream! It’s only $4.99, it’s a full half gallon, and it’s just as good as Edy’s or Bryers! Plus, it’s organic at a lower price than most other non-organic ice creams. Normally, I have the girls only eat coconut milk ice cream or we make our own banana ice cream, but I let them have the dairy filled dessert this time. And they definitely loved every bite!
