{Recipe} Kale Chips

My kids are very good eaters.  I can’t complain about that at all.  They’ll eat just about anything that’s good for them.  Probably because we make sure to feed them good-for-you foods.  We figured early on that if you allow them to eat the garbage, that’s what they’ll demand.  If they refuse to eat something that we make for them, they’ll eventually eat it if they’re hungry enough.  And that seems to have led us to great eating habits.  Lately I’ve been trying to get some more of the super foods in them.  In our produce basket, sometimes we get kale.  Kale is jam packed full of wonderful vitamins that I would love to pump into the kids.  I had been told about kale chips and I decided to start there.  I got some pretty good reviews on them from the girls, so I thought I’d share the recipe.  DSC_0032

Ingredients

  • Kale
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt (optional)DSC_0033

Step one:

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Step two:

Break the kale into pieces and lay on a baking sheet.  Perhaps your baking sheet doesn’t look as “loved” as mine.  🙂DSC_0026

Step three:

Drizzle olive oil all over the kale and salt it if you desire.

Step four:

Place in the oven on the top rack to bake.  Keep checking on it frequently.  If it browns it won’t be as yummy.  You want it to be crispy, but not brown.  I usually pull it out after 7 min and weed out the ones that are done and then put the rest back in for a few more minutes.

And out pops a delicious, nutritious snack for your well deserving fam!  Enjoy!  I hope yours enjoy it as much as mine do.  DSC_0029 DSC_0028
