I just can’t get enough of fall. The colors are just magnificent. The air has such a wonderful crisp feel. Fall in Florida is different. Some trees change, but it’s nothing compared to the brilliant northern autumn. So, because of how much I love this colorful season, I made a table runner that is just bursting with color. I thought I’d do several easy-to-make fall crafts to share over the next week or so. And, I’ll walk you through step by step.
This one is so easy and exactly like my petal blanket that I made for photography, but with fall leaves rather than rose petals.
- Choose your fabric.
- Decide how big you want your table runner. The fabric for mine measures 13” x 33” after hemming. For the fabric, I just used a medium weight piece of fabric. The color doesn’t matter too much because the leaves are glued on top; however, you can see the color a little from certain angles.
- Cut your fabric to the desired size.
- After you have chosen and cut your fabric, hem the edges.
- Done hemming yet? Because now you get to glue. This is the last step of the project. See? I told you it was easy. For this you need a bunch of silk leaves. I’d say I used about 65 silk leaves for mine, but it really depends on how big you make the runner and how big the leaves are as to how many you’ll use. Now, warm up your glue gun and start gluing those leaves in place. When you’re done it should look like leaves just haphazardly fell from the tree and landed whimsically on your table runner. I think for spring I’ll do one covered in flowers.
I am so pleased with how this turned out! And it looks even more spectacular because of our table.
